Their Love Story
Alayna and Trey’s love story is like something out of a 90s rom-com! When I met the pair for their engagement session, I was so delighted by the story behind their relationship! The two have known each other since they were just 10 years old! Their friends have watched them become friends, fall in love, and eventually get married at The Maples on their wedding day!
Their story was a long, winding one, but it made their love all the sweeter. After years of friendship, Alayna and Trey pretended to be in a relationship while in college to play a joke on some friends. They even went so far as to share a kiss (their first!) to make the charade convincing! But both of them knew deep down that night that their kiss really meant something more. The rest was history!
Even though it took them years to go from friends to more, their friends and family saw the writing on the wall far before they did…which made the wedding celebration all the more fun!
Alayna and Trey’s wedding day dawned to perfect weather. Despite all of the damaging wildfires in Northern California this season, on this day, the air cleared and the sun shone. As I drove up the long driveway lined with olive trees at the Maples, I knew this venue was going to be something special. With all of the beautiful maple groves (the venue’s namesake), cactuses, old stables, and outdoor fireplaces, it’s got a little bit of everything.
Their Wedding Day at The Maples
Since the Maples property is so vast, there are many options for the ceremony site within the premises. Alayna and Trey chose to recite their vows under a massive, protected historic oak, which added the perfect feeling of legacy and permanence to the intimate occasion. There were fewer than 75 people present, but guests traveled from all over the world—from Arizona to Germany!—to celebrate with them. It’s truly a testament to how special Alayna and Trey are and how much they mean to their friends and family
After the beautiful ceremony came a casual and fun-filled reception. Pizza was served, and the atmosphere was relaxed and joyful. And the laughter flowed freely, especially when all of the guests began toasting with their specialty cocktails—spicy margaritas for her and clubhouse whisky for him. Yum to both!
Even a small speed bump (Alayna’s veil had a short battle with some eyelash glue) couldn’t dampen a single moment of this perfect day! Everytime I interact with Trey and Alayna, I can see so plainly how pure and authentic their relationship is. I’m sure their friends and family would wholeheartedly agree. Congratulations to you two, and I hope to photograph the next phase in your love story soon!
