Planning Their Dream Wedding
From day one, Shelby and Hunter planned on a unique wedding that would really represent them. They love The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, and they envisioned their wedding taking place in that kind of fantasy world. Shelby described her dream wedding as hobbits dancing in the Shire, their ring box was inspired by The Lord of the Rings, and of course their venue perfectly captured that image. It didn’t feel like they were anywhere near the city or modern human life; it truly felt like the Shire!
Loma Vista Gardens at Big Sur
Big Sur is a huge destination for weddings, for good reason: it’s full of spots (like this one) that feel like you’re walking through a fairy tale. Loma Vista Gardens is a historic property at the center of Big Sur, with a bakery, shopping destinations, and absolutely stunning natural views. A Loma Vista wedding was perfect for Shelby and Hunter, and it made their day so special.
Hunter got ready in this little camper that had a very vintage feel, and Shelby got ready in the yurt, which had the cozy, outdoorsy feel. Before the ceremony, they had an intimate exchange of vows. They wanted to start the day off with that quiet moment together, surrounded by nature, without anyone else around. It was going to get so busy and fly by so fast, but before all the excitement, they got to share a really intentional moment.
There was a beautiful little three-tiered area, where they had their dinner reception on one level and their dance on another level. The ceremony took place in this beautiful grassy area, with a walkway up to the stunning trees where they did their first look. Everything about the venue was absolutely gorgeous.
Family Ties
Another beautiful thing about Shelby and Hunter’s wedding was the love and family connections that everyone felt just from being there. The day wasn’t without its challenges – it wasn’t an easy journey for Shelby’s mom, due to health reasons, and Hunter’s dad couldn’t be there. But Shelby’s mom did make it there, which was so special for her, and Hunter’s dad was honored and included in the day despite his absence, which was so moving and sweet to see. You really could tell that these families would love and stand by each other through any adversity.
I think that this couple absolutely knocked it out of the park with their wedding venue and preparations, in every single way. I’m so glad I got to be a part of their utterly magical day and capture these moments for them.
