Chris knew he wanted to marry Kira on their very first date. His quirkiness matched hers, and there was no way he was going to let her get away. When I first met Kira and Chris, I was immediately captivated by their energy and they are somehow simultaneously the most chill but fun couple I know! Immediately, when I met them for their Sutro bath engagement session, their joking competitiveness made me laugh. I could tell right away that these two are so perfect for each other, and I immediately began counting down the days until their Julietta Winery wedding celebration near Sacramento!

Wedding Photography at Julietta Winery, Sacramento

After a recommendation from Kira’s uncle who attended a Shakespeare festival there, the couple decided to explore the possibility of a Julietta Winery wedding. As soon as they saw it in person, they were sold!

Julietta Winery is a hidden gem in Clarksburg, CA, right outside of Sacramento. Surrounded by more well-known wine counties, Clarksburg is definitely an area of wine country that is often overlooked. But the landscape is beautiful and the wineries are just as magnificent. I’ve been to this particular winery multiple times, and I’m always blown away by the venue’s beauty and by the hospitality of the owner, Julie. All my couples rave about her and her staff, so if you’re ever in the area and want to visit, I can’t recommend it enough!

Capturing Their Private Vows at the Venue

I always tell my couples to think outside the box when it comes to their wedding. Reshaping traditions and inventing new ones of their own. And that’s exactly what Kira and Chris chose to do! For example, Kira is a crier and she knows it! So, when it came to planning her vows, she knew she’d feel more comfortable in an intimate setting. Instead of an ordinary first look and a traditional exchange of vows in front of the guests, they chose to blend the two! They traded the most magical vows—filled with jokes, stories, and intimate moments—away from prying eyes. This was the first time I’ve ever seen personal vows like this, and I was in awe. I loved it because it was so much more intimate, almost like an elopement ceremony, but then they had a huge after party afterwards. Best of both worlds if you ask me!

The Ceremony

After exchanging their vows, the wedding ceremony began! Despite being absent of vows, it wasn’t without its own memorable moments, including when they almost forgot the most important part—the exchanging of the rings! All their friends and family got a good laugh out of that. “If anyone was to do that, it would be Kira and Chris,” I heard the guests say while wiping tears of laughter off their cheeks.

Celebrating The Julietta Winery Wedding Day

They also mentioned to me that they love to dance, so they were super excited about the candid dance floor photos. But I didn’t realize just how much they were looking forward to hitting the dance floor! They danced their way into the reception and didn’t leave the dance floor all night long. And because their energy is so infectious, neither did their guests! When planning their wedding, they had mentioned several times that the wedding was really an excuse to plan an epic dance party. And that’s exactly what their wedding was!

It was truly an amazing Julietta Winery wedding celebration and was unforgettable in so many ways. Kira and Chris are an amazing couple who are truly meant to be, and I’m just so happy I got to be a part of their day. Congratulations, you two!
